During the night from April 23 to 24, Ukrainian rescuers desperately fought the consequences of yet another massive attack, which involved missile and drone strikes. According to official information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, headed by Ihor Klymenko, powerful strikes were directed at several regions of our country by Russian forces. Throughout the night, rescue teams worked non-stop, suppressing over 40 fires in nine regions of the country. The Minister noted that the most difficult situation was observed in Kyiv and its suburbs, as well as in Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia. The situation was especially critical in Ukraine's capital, where rescuers were engaged at 13 different locations; however, the consequences of the attacks were tragic — as of this morning, nine people had been killed in Kyiv, with over 70 more injured due to explosions and debris. Overall, large-scale efforts to eliminate the consequences of the attack continue in Kyiv and other regions, amid a high likelihood of new shelling. Throughout the night, specialists from the State Emergency Service faced several difficult tasks, as the enemy continued to use missile weapons, creating a real threat to the lives and property of Ukrainians. Particularly noteworthy is Zhytomyr region. Here, Russian troops carried out a repeated strike precisely on a unit of the State Emergency Service that had arrived to extinguish fires caused by previous missile strikes. As a result, a 39-year-old rescuer, performing his duty, was wounded. The Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, reported this incident, noting that the injured people are still receiving necessary medical assistance. Overall, the situation remains critical — Ukrainian services respond instantly, but the shelling continually poses a risk to the lives of those fighting the fire. Authorities are urging the population to stay calm and follow safety rules, as the threat of new missile strikes remains high. The events of this night once again confirmed how difficult and dangerous the fight for the safety of Ukrainians during wartime is. At the same time, local law enforcement and firefighters demonstrate incredible resilience, courage, and professionalism in the most challenging conditions of contemporary combat with the aggressor.
