President Volodymyr Zelensky has issued a sharp statement regarding the recent missile strike on Kyiv, emphasizing that preliminary information indicates the use of a North Korean-made ballistic missile

According to the head of state, this news has serious international and strategic implications and may signal an expansion of military cooperation between Russia and Pyongyang. Zelensky announced that his special services are actively verifying all details and analyzing the gathered data. If confirmed, this will serve as another proof of how unscrupulous Russia is in its aggressive actions and its commission of war crimes. “If this information is verified, it will be yet another indication that the alliance between Russia and North Korea is not just political symbiosis, but direct military cooperation aimed at complicating the situation for Ukraine and the entire world,” Zelensky wrote in his Facebook post. The president stressed that the use of such weapons demonstrates the constant audacity of the enemy and the cynicism of its actions. According to him, Russia has long been using mainly missiles and artillery in its war, while North Korea, in turn, has gained the ability to deploy its weapons in real combat conditions, making them even more deadly and destructive. This indicates an deepening of military ties between the two countries, which has significant global implications. Zelensky added that Kyiv is continuing to eliminate the consequences of the devastating missile strike carried out by Russian forces on April 24. Official sources report that during just one day, on April 24, Russian forces launched over 200 munitions—including missiles, attack drones, and other combat equipment. Unfortunately, this attack claimed the lives of at least 12 civilians, with many more injured, and hundreds of citizens remain under threat. In his speech, the Ukrainian leader emphasized the need to change the approach to fighting the aggressor. He called on the international community to intensify efforts to pressure Russia in order to end this war once and for all. “We need real, effective measures to stop the killing of civilians and to halt this humanitarian catastrophe. Russia continues to cynically ignore all diplomatic efforts, seeking to strengthen its military and economic potential to strike Ukrainian cities and citizens,” Zelensky underscored. He also added that Putin currently shows no signs of willingness to engage in dialogue, and therefore Ukraine persistently calls for a complete and unconditional ceasefire to stop the bloodshed and find a fair resolution to the conflict. Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of enhancing Ukraine’s defensive capabilities, particularly through the expansion and improvement of the air defense system, which must become a reliable shield for the population. The background to this incident was a night of tense confrontation when Kyiv was once again subjected to a massive attack by Russian forces. On the evening of April 24, Ukrainian air defense forces activated alarms and repelled some of the strikes, but the number of casualties and destruction remained high. It is known that in the Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv, at least 12 people were killed as a result of the Russian attack, and hundreds were injured. This is not the first large-scale attack on the capital, once again confirming the overall nature of Russia’s tactics—to intimidate, destroy, and dismantle vital infrastructure and morale of the Ukrainian population. Regarding this incident, Ukrainian officials continue to urge the global community for solidarity and quick response. President Zelensky highlighted that only by strengthening the protection of Ukrainian skies, developing modern missile defense systems, and active diplomacy can this destructive war be halted, ensuring long-term security for the country and its citizens.
