Donald Trump spoke about the possibility of achieving peace in the Ukraine-Russia conflict and emphasized the existence of a “deadline” by which a compromise must be reached

The former U.S. president, who recently met with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre at the White House, made this statement before the meeting on April 24, drawing the attention of many analysts and political observers. According to Trump, both sides — Ukraine and Russia — "both seek peace," but to resolve the conflict, negotiations must begin without delay. "We have waited too long. They need to sit down at the negotiating table. And I am confident that efforts will breakthrough toward achieving peace," he stated. At the same time, he noted that there is noticeable tension within ministries and diplomatic circles regarding the duration of the war, and expressed dissatisfaction that it is taking such a long time, pointing out the weekly loss of a large number of young people. "Every week, about 5,000 young people are dying in this war. They need to be saved. I don’t like that the process is dragging on for so long. But I sincerely believe that both Kyiv and Moscow want peace, and in time, they will definitely reach it," said the former U.S. president, emphasizing that there remains much hatred, distrust, and bitterness between the sides. In his speech, Trump outlined his own "deadline" for achieving a peace settlement — a time limit after which the U.S. will change its approach to the conflict. "We have an ultimate deadline by which a solution must be found. After that, our stance on this situation will change dramatically. But I am confident that we have good chances to reach peace by then," he concluded, highlighting the importance of swift action and consolidating efforts. It should be noted that previously, Trump spoke quite critically about Russian missile strikes on Kyiv, calling them "impotent" and addressing President Vladimir Putin with a call: "Stop!" Also, sources close to Washington revealed that the United States will insist that Moscow recognizes Ukraine's right to independent defense and the existence of its own defense industry within the framework of possible peace agreements. It is evident that the U.S. aims to bring the conflict onto a peaceful track, and all attention is now focused on timely finding a compromise and preventing even more bloody escalations. Time and political will play a crucial role in this process, and the motto of many international players is to act quickly to save young lives and end the suffering of tens of thousands of civilians.
