According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the situation in the east and south of the country remains challenging, but our defenders continue to actively hold back enemy offensives and prevent the adversary from advancing on key directions. On the morning of April 23, Ukrainian combat units engaged in 124 hostilities across various parts of the front. Notably, the most intense fighting occurred in the Pokrovske defensive sector, where the enemy conducted 43 active attacks, and in the Kurynsk direction, where Russian forces attempted 23 penetration attempts. Official data as of 22:00 on April 23 indicate that Russian troops inflicted substantial losses on Ukraine in equipment and personnel. Specifically, the enemy carried out one missile and 76 aviation strikes, used four rockets, and dropped 74 heavy aviation bombs. Russian forces also actively employ kamikaze drones — according to the General Staff, a total of 1,128 such drones have been used to strikes Ukrainian targets. Additionally, the enemy shelling Ukrainian positions and settlements has occurred 4,649 times, indicating an escalation in their aggressive actions. On the Kharkiv direction, the enemy has increased activity several times — today, four artillery and aviation attacks were carried out near Vovchansk and Vovchanske Khutors, subjecting Ukrainian-controlled territories to continuous enemy fire. In the Kupiansk sector, Russian forces attempted to break through Ukrainian positions near Zahrizove by conducting assault operations; however, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled these attacks. On the Lyman direction, Russian troops launched about twenty shelling attacks on Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Nove, Hrekivka, Nadiya, and Ridkodub since the beginning of the day. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces managed to halt nine enemy assault attempts in the areas of Bilohrivka and Verkhniokamianske; three battles are still ongoing, creating a tense situation on this part of the front. Intense fighting continues in the Torske sector, where Russian forces conducted 25 attacks on Ukrainian positions. The main enemy efforts are concentrated near the settlements of Dacha, Krymske, Toretsk, and Leonidiivka. Ukrainian defenders are holding the line firmly, repelling all enemy attempts to break through and seize strategic positions. On the Pokrovske direction and in areas covering several settlements, since April 23, Russian forces have launched 43 assault operations in an effort to breach Ukrainian defenses. Enemy units intensified their offensive actions near Kalynove, Zelenoie Polie, Novotoretske, Yelyzavetiivka, Lysivka, Vidrodzhennia, Zviriv, Uspenivka, Nadiivka, Kotliarivka, and Andriivka; however, Ukrainian troops remain resolute and capable of stifling enemy advances. On the Novopavlivske direction, Ukrainian units were able to halt 13 enemy assault attempts near the settlements of Kostyantynivka, Rozlyv, Rivnopil, and Novodarivka. This again confirms the high level of combat readiness of our military and their ability to effectively resist any invasions from occupying forces. On the Orikhiv direction, battles with the occupiers continue — Russian troops made three attempts to advance in the areas of Stepove, Shcherbakivka, and Lobkove. Despite the undoubtedly difficult situation, Ukrainian forces repel these pushes and inflict significant losses on the enemy. Another significant episode is on the Dnipro direction, where the enemy made one unsuccessful attempt to breach Ukrainian defense lines, demonstrating the stability and resilience of Ukrainian defenders. In the Kursk direction, which is one of the key areas in this phase of the conflict, and amid an increase in Russian assaults, Ukraine’s defense forces continue to heroically hold their positions. Over the course of the day, 23 assault attacks targeted Ukrainian troops; however, our forces prevented the enemy from advancing and remain unshakable in their defense. Overall, the situation remains tense and requires continued focus and resilience from Ukrainian military personnel and the entire Ukrainian society. At the same time, the unwavering determination of Ukrainians to fight for their land and independence is unmistakable, despite the difficult trials and hardships facing the country during this critical period of war.
