According to official data, 13 guided kamikaze drones were dropped on Poltava, some of which were successfully shot down by the region’s air defense forces. However, debris and direct hits caused damage and injuries to residents. As reported by Vladimir Kohut, the Acting Head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, the city was subjected to a massive drone attack at that time. He stated: "During the night, 13 strike UAVs were dropped on the city. Four of them were shot down by air defense systems. As a result of falling debris and direct hits, infrastructure objects were damaged and buildings were destroyed. Six residents were injured during the attack, three of whom refused hospitalization, while the others were taken to medical facilities. One person sustained serious injuries and requires ongoing treatment,” he noted. All necessary services — rescue workers, police, medical personnel, and damage assessment specialists — are working at the scene. Photos and videos from the sites in social media illustrate the extent of the damage: private houses destroyed, multi-story buildings, offices, and vehicles damaged. In the Podilskyi district, emergency repair works were underway — a private residential building was destroyed, several multi-story buildings were damaged, including storage facilities of two local enterprises. Several cars were also damaged, mostly in Shevchenkivskyi district, where two office buildings, multiple apartment blocks, and vehicles suffered damage. It is important to emphasize that this is not the first attack in the region in recent months. Previously, Ukrainian journalists and local sources reported a massive "Shahed" attack on Poltava, which caused power outages and increased tension among residents. According to Vladimir Kohut, this strike is yet another confirmation that Russian military forces are actively using kamikaze drones to attack civilian infrastructure and residential areas. At least three civilians were injured in this attack — and, according to preliminary information, several residential buildings and regional infrastructure facilities suffered destruction. Currently, all services are working in a heightened mode to quickly eliminate the consequences of the attack and provide assistance to those affected. Local authorities urge residents to stay calm and follow safety recommendations during alarms. Poltava region has once again faced massive and cynical aggression, which Russia continues to employ in an attempt to sow fear and devastation in the hearts of peaceful communities. Let’s stay united and support each other in these difficult times.
