In Kharkiv, the situation is becoming increasingly alarming, as another man has lost his life following a recent large-scale attack by Russian forces
He sustained severe injuries during a massive city shelling on April 22. This tragic news was confirmed by the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, which officially announced the death of the patient in a local hospital, where he was brought in critical condition. According to Oleg Sinegubov, head of the regional administration, it was not possible to save the man's life despite all medical efforts. "Unfortunately, a man who was severely wounded during yesterday’s enemy shelling of Kharkiv has died in the hospital. Medical personnel have been fighting for his life since yesterday," he stated in an official media release. Earlier, in comments to the media, Sinegubov noted that this time the victim was one of those affected by the nighttime attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which Russian occupiers again targeted in the outskirts of the city. According to official information, on April 22, Russian forces used attack drones to carry out targeted missile strikes on Kharkiv. As a result, a massed shelling was recorded from four districts of the city, indicating another escalation of enemy actions against the civilian population. Municipal authorities reported that at least 12 separate strikes were carried out that day, resulting in numerous casualties and extensive damage to infrastructure. Almost all districts of the city suffered destruction or were subjected to attacks — particularly, the most affected areas include residential neighborhoods, schools, and hospitals. Preliminary information indicates that at least nine people were injured in the shellings, with their fates currently being determined, and the number of wounded may continue to grow. Given the scale of destruction and casualties, local authorities and medical services are doing their utmost to provide assistance to all injured and stabilize the situation. This tragedy underscores once again the danger and brutality of the constant attacks carried out by Russia against peaceful Ukrainian cities—destroying infrastructure, disrupting lives, and taking human lives. Due to ongoing shellings, residents of Kharkiv remain in a state of tension and uncertainty. The local government urges residents to follow safety rules, including avoiding unnecessary outings and staying alert to air raid alerts. Following another attack, city and regional authorities reaffirm their firm readiness to oppose the aggressor and do everything possible to strengthen defense capabilities and protect citizens. However, the situation remains difficult and tense, with every new shelling inflicting another wound on an already traumatized Ukraine. Local services and volunteers continue working on the front lines to ensure safety and assist those affected.
