Zelensky openly expressed his concern about the possible withdrawal of the United States from the peace negotiation process regarding the conflict with Russia

In Kyiv, during a recent meeting with journalists, he emphasized that it is very important for Ukraine to maintain Washington’s support in diplomatic efforts, as this is not only political assistance but also a security aspect, including intelligence, combat systems, and ensuring the country’s vital interests. "We would very much not want the USA to withdraw from this process," he said. "It’s not just a matter of funding or diplomatic steps — it’s strategic support, without which Ukraine cannot effectively oppose the aggressor. Losing such support could negatively impact our prospects and security in the long term." Zelensky stressed that Ukraine considers the US a reliable ally in the fight for its independence and territorial integrity, while Russia remains its main enemy. "This is a very complex and dangerous moment. The US withdrawal from the negotiation process would be a very bad signal," he added. The President expressed hope that the current US administration, especially potential presidential candidate Donald Trump, will continue supporting Ukraine and will make efforts to exert pressure on Moscow to achieve a peaceful resolution. Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio commented on this issue, stating that the administration might cease efforts to seek peace in Ukraine if progress is not observed in the near future. At the same time, former President Trump reaffirmed his willingness to abandon the peace process if no positive results are achieved, though he did not specify the conditions under which this would happen. Such statements indicate potential turbulence in diplomatic efforts, which have so far been a key element of Ukrainian-American cooperation in opposing Russian aggression. Overall, the situation surrounding the possible US withdrawal from the diplomatic process remains tense and raises concerns in Kyiv and on the global stage. Ukrainian leaders emphasize that without Washington’s support, Ukraine’s prospects for achieving a stable peaceful settlement are significantly diminished, complicating paths toward diplomatic resolution and deepening uncertainties about future developments.
