The situation in Kharkiv oblast remains tense, and local residents are once again experiencing the horrors of war. According to official sources, including the Kharkiv regional prosecutor’s office and the official Telegram channel of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, on April 22 around 4:40 a.m., Russian forces carried out an airstrike on the village of Horokhovatka, which is part of the Boryivska territorial community. Preliminary data indicates that the missile hit a private sector, diligently destroying several houses and damaging infrastructure. The occupiers deliberately targeted a residential area, provoking a fire in four residential buildings, which firefighters quickly brought under control. As a result of the shelling, over ten private households, including homes, shops, and a post office serving local residents, were damaged by the fire. Two civilians — a 55-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman — received injuries of varying severity. The injured are currently receiving medical care, and their condition is assessed as stable. Earlier, on April 21, in the same village, the Russian military used a Kalibr missile, which caused a fire in farm buildings and garages. The fire spread over an area of more than 100 square meters. Windows and roofs of several other private structures were damaged, and a small kiosk and postal point serving the village inhabitants were destroyed. These damages deepen residents’ anxiety, as they face daily consequences of Russian shelling. Furthermore, other tragic incidents continue in Kharkiv region. For instance, on April 21, in the city of Kupiansk, a drone strike severed a gas pipeline in the city center. A 58-year-old woman was injured, suffering a concussion and was hospitalized. This confirms that the war has long entered a phase of widespread destruction and human suffering. A no less tragic event occurred during the night in the village of Ivashky, in the Bohodukhiv district. On the evening of April 21, Russian forces used an FPV drone to target a 24-year-old man on a scooter. The attack resulted in his immediate death. This incident again underscores how dangerous the situation is for peaceful civilians who are simply trying to live and work in their homes, unaware that they could be struck suddenly. Military experts and local residents note that these attacks are yet another demonstration of the Russian occupiers’ disregard for human dignity and their contempt for peaceful populations. Kharkiv region residents are repeatedly forced to seek shelter in bomb shelters, fearing every sound that might signal danger. Authorities urge residents to be cautious and avoid leaving their homes unless absolutely necessary. According to the military administration, the situation remains tense, and the only way to protect oneself and loved ones is through rational behavior, unity, and mutual support. However, given the widespread destruction and growing number of victims, many feel that there is no end in sight to this horrifying conflict. Stress and anxiety affect everyone — both adults and children. The international community continues to call for an immediate ceasefire and the search for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict. Ukraine also emphasizes the need for enhanced safety measures and support for civilians affected by the storm of destruction in Kharkiv region. After all, war is not only about strategic objects but primarily about people's lives — those who dream of returning to peaceful life but currently face new challenges every day. While the front lines hold the defense, residents of Kharkiv region remain in constant tension, awaiting the next strike in an uncertain future. They live every moment thinking about the safety of their children and themselves, praying for a swift victory and a return to normal life. But as long as the war continues, people keep fighting and refusing to give in to despair.
