According to reports from the local prosecutor's office and eyewitness testimonies, Russian troops opened fire on the peaceful town, resulting in the deaths of three residents. This is not the first case where civilians have fallen victim to aggression aimed at destroying the peaceful population of Donbas. According to official sources, the attack occurred in the morning of the same day. Around 8:00 a.m., Russian forces carried out a missile strike on the city’s private sector. The attack led to a 72-year-old local resident sustaining severe injuries incompatible with life. It is known that the exact nature of the weapons used by the occupiers is currently being established by specialists, but it is evident that this was an artillery strike that affected the residential area. Around 12:30 p.m., following an initiative by Russian occupiers, a new strike occurred—this time targeting a civilian vehicle at the entrance to the city. It is highly likely that this was also carried out with a drone—so-called FPV drone, which allows precise strikes. Authorities confirmed that as a result of the attack, two civilians were killed: a 63-year-old woman and a 75-year-old man. The victims were in this vehicle either within the city or on its outskirts and appear to have been accidental casualties of indiscriminate shelling. In addition to human losses, the attack damaged a private house and a passenger car parked nearby. This further underscores the destructive nature of Russia’s military aggression and its deliberate strategic tactic to destroy peaceful lives and infrastructure. Prior to these events, as part of criminal investigations, pre-trial proceedings have been initiated under the leadership of the Pokrovsk District Prosecutor's Office on possible war crimes. All circumstances of the shellings are being clarified, and experts are involved to conduct a deeper analysis of the weapons used, mostly in ruthless attacks on civilian targets. This tragic event once again highlights the ongoing tragedy in the region and underscores the need for increased international attention and action in countering a war that is claiming innocent lives. The peaceful population of Donbas continues to pay a high price for senseless aggression, and the international community calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities and the protection of civilians.
