Three people were injured as a result of Russian attacks and mortar threats in the Nikopil district
Throughout the day on April 21, the situation in the Nikopol district of Dnipropetrovsk region remained tense and dangerous. Russian forces continued a large-scale campaign of shelling, using various means of destruction, including drones, artillery, and mortars. As a result of these attacks, several civilians were injured, with one woman in Nikopol wounded by a mine left behind by enemy saboteurs. According to Valentyn Reznichenko, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Military Administration, three citizens were injured that day—two in the immediate zone of shelling, and one in the city of Nikopol. The head of the regional military administration reported that the dangerous situation persisted throughout the day and was caused by attacks from Russian forces utilizing drones and artillery. Specifically, the district center and several communities—Myriv, Pokrov, Marhanets, and Chervonohryhorivka—came under fire. Reznichenko noted that two residents— a 66-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman—were injured but did not require hospitalization and could receive outpatient treatment. A particularly tragic incident occurred in Nikopol, where a 62-year-old woman accidentally stepped on a mine left behind by enemy saboteurs in the city. She was urgently hospitalized in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, her traumatic injury remained serious. Local authorities urge residents to be extremely cautious and adhere to safety rules in areas with potential mine hazards. On the same day, Russian forces continued shelling the Mykolaivka community in the Synelnykove district. No casualties or destruction have been reported so far. The second wave of mortar strikes increased concerns for civilian safety and regional infrastructure. Fortunately, there were no human fatalities or significant destruction. This series of attacks once again underscores the value of every life and the need for caution amid ongoing military aggression from Russia. Ukrainian authorities and security services continue to strengthen evacuation measures, establish shelters, and disseminate information about mine dangers in the region. Residents are urged to stay vigilant, avoid dangers, and not approach suspicious objects, as any such incident could lead to tragedy. Currently, the situation remains tense, and authorities assure that they are making every effort to restore security and stability in the Nikopil region.
