Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov officially stated that, at the moment, the possibility of U.S. President Donald Trump visiting Russia for the May 9 celebrations is not being discussed. This information was published by the Russian news agency TASS, citing Peskov's statement, and was also confirmed by "European Pravda." According to the Kremlin’s spokesperson, there are currently no contacts or agreements regarding Trump's participation in Victory Day events. This aligns with Russia’s general stance on celebrating May 9, which is an important date in Russian history and an element of patriotic state propaganda. At the same time, this situation should be viewed within the context of the recent political recommendations from the European Union. European leaders and diplomats received clear instructions to refrain from participating in military celebrations in Moscow this weekend. On April 14, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, advised European leaders to avoid attending May 9 commemorations and instead show solidarity with Ukraine, which has been enduring a difficult year of war. Meanwhile, other voices have also appeared on the global political stage. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced his intention to visit Moscow along with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, which draws additional attention to diplomatic movements ahead of this key holiday. The visits of high-ranking European politicians to Moscow in this context are becoming a subject of discussion and could have repercussions in international relations. Thus, the official position of the Kremlin is that Trump will not participate in the May 9 celebrations, while he remains within the political sphere due to high diplomatic and international contexts, in which this date is used to demonstrate strength or call for dialogue.
