Enemy shelling and drones have once again violated the promised ceasefire along the Ukrainian border, despite Russia’s announced festive restrictions on fire during Easter
Following the implementation of the so-called "ceasefire regime," Ukrainian border guards recorded numerous attacks, indicating the absence of any real truce along the Russia-Ukraine border. This was reported by Colonel Andriy Demchenko, a spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, during a live broadcast on the national telethon. According to the officer, any "temporary lull" declared by the Russians during the holiday period was more of an imitation and an attempt to create the illusion of a cessation of hostilities. "We have been observing regular shelling since the very beginning of the declared and prolonged ceasefire, which lasted only about 30 hours," Demchenko emphasized. The enemy has not abandoned the use of barrel artillery, multiple launch rocket systems, and unmanned aerial vehicles, including kamikaze drones and FPV drones for cargo dropping and reconnaissance. They have also patrolled enemy positions and conducted strikes using drones, which significantly complicates the situation. At the same time, according to the officer, the enemy carried out fewer attacks in the Chernihiv region, but fighting continued along the broad perimeter of the border, especially in Sumy and Kharkiv regions. There was no real ceasefire, as he stated. "The enemy is actively using all available means of combat, including military aviation, although in smaller quantities compared to previous periods," Demchenko emphasized. He noted that in certain sectors, the enemy deliberately attempted assault operations against border units, conducting offensive actions that were not random provocations but targeted in nature. "These were planned and deliberate assaults that the enemy continued to carry out, even if only in certain areas. And if we speak about an official ceasefire, we recorded not only intense shelling from our side but also active attacks specifically on our positions," the officer added. They confirmed that Russian forces did not observe any agreements and continued active combat activities, violating all declared restrictions during the holiday period. Ukrainian defenders assert that the occupiers demonstrate their inability to adhere to any statements about a "regime of silence" or a desire for ceasefire. The military situation around the borders remains tense, and the enemy's attempts to entrench and strengthen their positions directly near Ukrainian borders continue. Active hostilities are ongoing in border regions, confirming the lack of any genuine truce—neither from the Russians nor their units. Ukraine insists on the need to strengthen defense and strictly adhere to the agreements, which the occupiers ignore, continuing active fire and assault activities in the same mode.
