" According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, by 4:00 p.m. on April 20, there had already been 45 intense combat engagements. This indicates a high level of enemy activity, as they continue attempting to advance and strike Ukrainian defenses. The greatest number of battles occurred on the Pokrovsk direction, where 20 separate clashes took place over the course of the day. Enemy activity here remains very high, confirming a persistent trend of a tense front line. Using artillery, the opponent’s forces carried out a series of shellings in the areas of the settlements of Myropillia and Turiya in Sumy Region, further complicating the situation in this sector. On the Lyman direction, fighting continued in two zones — near Nadiia and Morny. There, combat engagements occurred twice, and the situation remains tense. On the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy again attacked Ukrainian positions in the areas of Chasiv Yar, as well as near the villages of Stupochky and Bila Gora, where artillery fire and attempted突破s took place. Although Ukrainian troops offered effective resistance, another combat engagement continues. No less active were the battles on the Toretsk direction, where the Russians attacked twice in the areas of Družba and Toretsk. Intensity of fighting in this sector remained high throughout the day. A significant number of clashes—twenty—were recorded near the settlements of Sukh Balka, Myrolubivka, Yelyzavetivka, Lysivka, Kotlne, Udaine, Novooleksandrivka, Uspenka, Preobrazhenka, Andriivka, and Rozlyv. Most of these battles are ongoing as of now. Regarding the Novopavlivka direction, Russian forces twice tried to advance in the areas of Skudne and toward Odradne, but Ukrainian defenders repelled all attacks, especially in the areas of Mala Tokmachka and Stepove on the Orekhiv direction. Fighting there continues intensely, but Ukrainian units are defending their positions. In the south, particularly in Kursk, Ukrainian troops actively repel enemy attacks. At least three attempted breakthroughs were recorded, and overall, 12 clashes took place during the day. The aggressor carried out over 100 artillery shellings, including seven with multiple launch rocket systems, significantly complicating the situation on the front. Another important aspect is the absence of active enemy offensives on the Kharkiv, Kupiansk, Siversk, Huliaipole, and Dnipropetrovsk directions. Ukrainian forces hold their defenses there, preventing advances by occupiers and maintaining control over strategically important positions. Meanwhile, as early as Sunday morning, the General Staff reported that between 10 p.m. on April 19 and the morning of April 20, 20 combat engagements were recorded on the front. This shows persistent tension and a low level of calm along the line of contact, as the enemy continues employing various tactics to advance their positions or strike Ukrainian forces. Overall, the situation remains extremely difficult and dynamic, with a high level of attacks and shellings, demanding maximum attention and combat readiness from Ukrainian troops. This is confirmed by the constant activity of the enemy across several key directions, along with their repeated attempts to breach Ukrainian defenses at any cost, which continually leads to escalation of hostilities.
