According to the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, during the so-called “ceasefire” declared by the Russian side, the situation on the front has significantly worsened

Since 10 a.m. on April 20, there has been a sharp increase in the activity of occupation forces, particularly regarding the use of kamikaze drones and an escalation in enemy shelling. Information provided by the head of state after a report from the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces indicates that the number of Russian-produced FPV drone launches, used for pinpoint attacks and reconnaissance, has doubled. Zelensky noted that Russian troops on the front lines have intensified their activities, especially in the directions of Pokrovske and Siverske, as well as in some other areas of the front. Heavy Russian equipment continues to be employed in these sectors, including artillery, tanks, and heavy infantry weapons. Over the course of the day, at least 26 assault actions by Russian forces have been recorded. Military personnel speak of a significant escalation, particularly pointing out that Russian troops are breaking any agreements on a ceasefire. "We record every violation by Russia of its own promise of complete silence during Easter and are ready to provide relevant information to our partners. Because either Putin does not control his army, or the situation itself shows that Russia has no sincere intentions to end the war. They are only interested in media PR and creating the illusion of victories. It's good that, at least, there haven't been any air raid alerts," Zelensky emphasized in his comments on the situation at the front. The background of this sharp escalation began earlier, on April 19, when Russian dictator Vladimir Putin announced a so-called "Easter ceasefire," which, according to him, was to stop all hostilities in Ukraine from the evening of April 19 until midnight on April 21. Simultaneously, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that occupation troops would adhere to this agreement if there was mutual consent with Ukrainian authorities. However, independent monitoring and the DeepState project report differently. According to their information, in reality, there is little to no evidence of a true ceasefire on the actual front. Russian forces continue to use heavy equipment and shell Ukrainian positions non-stop, demonstrating that Kyiv and the international community do not see any serious intention on Russia’s part to cease hostilities. In conclusion, it can be seen that Russian occupiers are using the period of the so-called "ceasefire" to regroup and prepare for new large-scale attacks. Meanwhile, Ukrainian defenders continue to fight despite promises of a ceasefire. The situation remains tense and requires the attention and decisive action of the international community to prevent further escalation and to ensure civilian safety.
