Zelensky Responds to Putin’s “Easter Ceasefire”: The Armed Conflict Continues

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky strongly condemned the missile attack by Russian kamikaze drones that occurred on the eve of Easter, calling this provocation a clear testament to the true attitude of Russian leader Vladimir Putin towards celebrating Easter and human life. He shared this information on his official Telegram channel, emphasizing that the airspace over Ukraine remained tense during the attack. According to Zelensky, "regarding another attempt by Putin to play with people's lives — currently, air raid alerts are sounding across Ukraine. At 17:15, Russian attack drones were detected in our skies. Ukrainian air defenses and aviation have already begun working to protect our citizens." The head of state highlighted that the "kamikaze" drones used by the enemy — unmanned aerial vehicles — are an example of the Kremlin's true attitude towards Easter and human life in general. Viewing this situation in context, it becomes yet another confirmation that Kremlin's claims of a "Easter ceasefire" are merely diplomatic maneuvering. On the eve of Easter, when most people are preparing to celebrate, Russian forces continue missile and drone attacks across Ukrainian territory. This aligns completely with earlier statements by the Russian Ministry of Defense about the possibility of an "overarching ceasefire regime" from April 19 to 21, contingent on mutual adherence to a silence mode by Ukraine. Kyiv repeatedly emphasizes that any ceasefires declared by the Kremlin are more tactical tricks than genuine intentions to end hostilities. Ukrainian military and authorities underscore that Ukraine has the right to defend itself and does not agree to any agreements that could weaken its defenses or legitimize Russian aggression. While Russian President Vladimir Putin attempts to create the illusion of a ceasefire, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold the line, fight the enemy, and make every effort to preserve the country's independence and territorial integrity. Zelensky and his team stress that the Kremlin's cynical steps, including attacking during a festive time, reveal the true character of the Russian regime. This development once again underscores the necessity of unity and resilience in Ukraine’s resistance. In a situation where the enemy exploits any opportunity for attack — regardless of religious holidays or human sentiments — Ukraine’s main goal remains the protection of civilians, the dignity of an independent state, and sovereignty. Currently, Ukrainian leadership calls on citizens not to panic and to remain calm. They also reiterate that any peace initiatives by the Kremlin will be met with caution and rigorous criticism. It is well known that Moscow has repeatedly used false “ceasefires” to regroup troops, replenish supplies, and prepare new attacks. In the context of current events, it is important to remind that Ukraine continues to defend its land, relying on international support and internal unity. While Moscow shows its true face, Ukrainian citizens and military personnel remain vigilant, standing guard over their independence and the country’s territorial integrity.
