There Have Been Explosions Again in Dnipropetrovsk Region: Russian Strikes on Nikopol District Left Damage and Casualties

On Thursday, April 18, the Dnipropetrovsk region was unexpectedly subjected to enemy shelling when Russian forces used a combination of drones and artillery in an attempt to break through Ukrainian defenses. According to official information, this night was tense for residents of several communities located in the Nikopol district, as well as nearby settlements. As reported by Serhii Lysak, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, the tense situation occurred in several communities — Marhanske, Pokrovsk, Mriivka, and Chervonohryhorivka — situated in the southern part of the region. The enemy launched a new attack using, in particular, kamikaze drones and heavy artillery. The strikes were reportedly directed toward the city of Nikopol, which is often targeted by such aggressive actions. Using drones and artillery systems, the enemy inflicted significant damage to infrastructure and private property. Several residential buildings, including a multi-story apartment complex, a private house, an administrative building, and shops, were damaged as a result of the shelling. Transport infrastructure was also affected — public transport ceased operating, and buses and other vehicles were damaged. Additionally, the attacks impacted objects that were non-operational and not currently used for residential or industrial purposes. According to the regional governor’s report, among the injured is a 35-year-old woman who is currently undergoing outpatient treatment due to wounds received during the attacks. She was evacuated and is receiving necessary medical assistance. Fortunately, there were no human casualties or fatalities reported — according to available information, no one was killed or wounded as a result of the strikes. Furthermore, in the Mezhivska community, which is also part of the district, a building that had been unused for a long time was damaged, and emergency services’ special equipment suffered destruction as well. Several infrastructure objects in the region were destroyed due to the shelling, but, luckily, all residents remain alive and have not suffered serious injuries. These events once again highlight the tense situation in eastern Ukraine, where Russian occupiers continue their aggression even in areas previously considered more secure. Ukraine continues to implement mobilization and defense measures aimed at protecting civilians and maintaining infrastructural integrity. These enemy actions serve as yet another reminder that the fight for independence persists, and each day may bring new challenges and dangers. Local authorities and rescue services are working around the clock to quickly restore the damage caused, assist those affected, and ensure the safety of the population. Ukrainian defenders remain vigilant and urge residents to follow safety rules, stay in shelters during alarms, and avoid panic. The war continues, and each of us must do everything possible to prevent further losses and restore peace to our homeland.
