Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky officially announced serious intelligence data indicating Russia's increased preparations for new missile strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities. This information was shared by the head of state during a recent meeting with Ukrainian energy sector representatives, which was recorded and disseminated on social media to highlight the current situation and the perspectives in the country’s energy sector. In his speech, Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine has managed to survive the difficult winter months without large-scale electrical outages — so-called blackouts. "It was very hard; we faced numerous threats and had to take urgent measures to stabilize the system multiple times, disconnecting and reconnecting energy resources. However, we succeeded in preserving the integrity of our energy system — united and operational. This is an extremely important achievement for the entire country and every Ukrainian, as it was our people's unity that made it possible to continue electricity supplies during such a challenging time," he stated. However, according to Zelensky, it is necessary to be prepared for new challenges and real threats that never disappear. The head of state noted that Ukrainian special services and intelligence have clear and confirmed data about Russia’s plans. He stated that, on the eve of and after Easter, Russia may launch a new wave of missile attacks aimed at significantly weakening Ukraine’s energy system and plunging the country once again into darkness and cold. Zelensky stressed that Ukraine will continue to defend its independence, sovereignty, and energy security: "We know what actions Russia is capable of. We have received information from security agencies and intelligence confirming that the enemy is preparing new strikes against our energy system. This is not the first nor the last attempt to sow chaos and destruction on our land. Therefore, we remain vigilant and will do everything possible to prevent large-scale failures and damages in our energy sector." The head of state urged Ukrainians to stay alert, emphasizing that the united support of all energy workers and services, who are now working around the clock to restore and strengthen the energy system, is the key to success. According to him, the government is doing everything to mobilize the resources, intellect, and will of the Ukrainian people to counter any new threats and ensure stable energy supplies in the near future.
