The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has taken an important step in modernizing military capabilities by approving the use of the latest amphibious unmanned platform UNEX UGV

This is a multifunctional and highly mobile tracked armored vehicle of Ukrainian origin, capable of operating in the most challenging combat and natural environments, opening new horizons for modern units of the Armed Forces. According to official sources from the Ministry of Defense, the UNEX UGV platform is built on a specialized chassis that provides exceptional mobility and high cross-country ability. It effortlessly traverses water bodies, fast-flowing rivers, swampy areas, and seas; it easily moves across slippery sands, complex loose soils, or ice. This enables Ukrainian military personnel to respond quickly in any conditions, regardless of natural obstacles, as well as to use the platform for a wide range of combat and support tasks. The Ministry of Defense’s press release emphasizes that the UNEX UGV possesses unique cross-country characteristics: it can cross water obstacles, circumvent fallen trees, move across ditches, overcome large stones, and even go from water onto ice. Additionally, the amphibian can operate under various weather conditions and temperature variations—from heat to cold—an especially important feature for modern military applications in different regions. The platform is equipped with a modern remote control system that allows for highly accurate remote operation. Its reliable battery ensures continuous operation without interruption, and its resistance to electronic warfare means and EW systems enhances its combat effectiveness within military units. To increase autonomy, a programmable autopilot has been installed, enabling it to perform various tasks without constant manual control. The UNEX UGV can be adapted for any combat and logistical needs: it can be equipped with combat modules, electronic warfare systems, used for logistical operations, evacuating wounded personnel, or demining. Wide tires and an optimal weight distribution reduce ground pressure, allowing the platform to pass through mines designed for infantry and vehicle threats. This is especially relevant in today’s mine security environment when new technologies allow even the smallest contact with hazardous mines to significantly reduce risks to personnel. During a recent demonstration, the UNEX UGV confirmed its high delicate handling and safe operation. Specifically, it was launched onto a ceramic plate and a cup of coffee—this test was passed with maximum care, without damaging the surrounding objects. This is not the first news from the Ministry of Defense regarding the integration of high-tech components into the military sphere. Recall that at the end of 2024, the Ministry allowed the Ukrainian Armed Forces to receive many modern platforms. For example, on December 25, the supply of the domestic unmanned aerial complex "Shchedryk" was authorized, which is already undergoing military testing. Just a few days later, on December 27, the Ministry approved and allowed the use of the robotic platform "Snail," capable of performing various engineering and support operations. Earlier, on February 13, the deployment of ground robotic systems Spextr in various modifications was authorized. They are designed for complex rescue, reconnaissance, and combat missions, providing Ukrainian defenders with a new level of mobility and safety. All this indicates a committed course toward integrating modern technologies into the country’s defense system, enabling Ukrainian forces to be prepared for new challenges and threats in today’s geopolitical landscape.
