Participation with encouraging news regarding the formation and leadership of Ukrainian military units continues

Against the backdrop of high tension caused by the escalation of the situation around Ukraine, an important step has been taken — the appointment of a new commander of the 12th Special Operations Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine “Azov”. This responsible position has been entrusted to 31-year-old Lieutenant Colonel Bogdan Hrischenkov, known by his call sign “Pugach”. This appointment is of strategic importance for the further development and strengthening of the combat potential of one of the country’s key military units. The new commander of “Azov” hails from Sloviansk in Donetsk region, adding a special local context and symbolism to his story. In just a few years of service, Bogdan Hrischenkov has traveled a long path from a private soldier to an officer with extensive experience in managing platoons, companies, and battalions. His career demonstrates deep dedication to his cause, high professionalism, and a commitment to strengthening the country’s defense capabilities. Since the beginning of his service in 2015, Hrischenkov has been involved in the hottest episodes of the modern war. He participated in the defense of Mariupol in 2022 — a key strategic point that became a symbol of Ukrainian soldiers’ courage. At that time, he commanded one of the “Azov” companies and was wounded during fierce battles, which attests to his personal bravery and self-sacrifice. His captivity in Russian hands, particularly in Olenivka, became one of the tragic episodes of wartime trials. During the breakout from the Olenivka barracks, Russian occupiers used explosives, causing multiple shrapnel wounds — it was then that he lost two toes on his foot. After his liberation and undergoing rehabilitation courses, Bogdan returned to active combat. He took part in offensive operations in the Serebryansk Forest area and on the Toretsk direction. His combat path is a vivid example of indomitable will, resilience, and constant readiness to defend Ukrainian land. Leading “Azov”, Hrischenkov aims not only to preserve the brigade’s combat potential intact but also to enhance its ability to quickly and effectively interact with other units of the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine. His experience, personal courage, and drive for victory will undoubtedly be an advantage for the unit during this difficult period for the country. The new commander of “Azov” is a living symbol of Ukrainian resilience and indomitable spirit, capable of leading his subordinates forward in the fight for independence and territorial integrity. His appointment is one of the effective signs that the Ukrainian military is steadily growing and improving, strengthening the country's capacity to confront modern challenges and threats. This story affirms: Ukrainian heroes are not only symbols of patriotism but also living people with deep old bonds who, with tears and combat readiness, move forward in the fight for freedom. They believe in victory and prove that even under the greatest trials, a new beginning and new achievements are possible.
