This was one of the largest and fiercest battles involving motorcycles, which the Russians used to break through the Ukrainian front, the press service of the National Guard of Ukraine reported. According to sources within the formation, the fighting near Pokrovske became a vivid demonstration of the high combat endurance and professionalism of the Guardsmen. The enemy, aiming to breach the Ukrainian defensive line, launched a powerful mechanized attack that lasted more than seven hours, during which they lost a significant amount of equipment and personnel in every hour of combat. Reports indicate that during each hour of the enemy's offensive, they lost up to 40 infantry personnel, about 13 motorcycles, and further compromised the situation on the technical front—destroying three armored combat vehicles. This reflects the high level of effectiveness of the Ukrainian defenders, who not only managed to halt the enemy but also inflicted substantial losses on them. Speaking about the events, the Commander of the National Guard, Brigadier General Oleksandr Pivnenko, clarified that on April 17, under the positions near Pokrovske, Ukrainian soldiers from the 14th Brigade of the National Guard "Chervona Kalyna" repelled a powerful mechanized assault by the enemy. Thanks to the high mobilization and coordinated actions of the servicemen, Ukrainian defenders managed to eliminate more than 240 invaders—both killed and wounded. Additionally, during the battle, the Russians lost over a hundred pieces of military equipment: tanks, armored vehicles, and other types of weaponry, confirming the significant losses of the enemy and their inability to swiftly break through the Ukrainian defenses. This was a vivid example of the high fighting spirit and capacity of Ukrainian forces to withstand the superior enemy, protecting the territory and the peaceful population in the Pokrovske sector. Eyewitnesses and military experts emphasize that the success of this operation was the result of strategic preparation, high mobilization, and heroism of Ukrainian soldiers, who demonstrate through their actions that the Ukrainian army is capable not only of withstanding an invasion but also of giving a worthy response to the foe. This once again underscores the importance of unity and support in the fight for Ukraine's independence and the safety of its citizens.
