The election process is scheduled for September 28, 2025, and this event promises to be one of the most important in the modern history of independent Moldova. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu emphasized at a press conference that this year's elections are especially significant for statehood and the country's European integration course. He stated that much depends on the outcome of these elections — whether Moldova will be able to take another step toward European integration or rather return to greater isolation and miss the opportunity to join the European Union. The decision to hold elections was passed by a majority vote in the parliament — 57 out of 89 deputies voted in favor, while 32 abstained or did not participate in the vote. It is important to note that the initiative to set the election date was proposed by representatives of the ruling party "Action and Solidarity," which actively champions the country's European integration and modernization. In his official Facebook post, Igor Grosu stressed: “Either we destroy everything we have achieved on the path of modern Ukraine and European development, or we move forward, building a country of peace and progress. It is our duty to ensure that the country does not fall back under Moscow's control, preserve its sovereignty, and have the freedom of action. It depends on the politicians we choose and how conscious the voters are.” The elections are taking place in the context of internal and external challenges faced by the country: political stabilization, combating corruption, economic development, and external political ambitions toward integration into European structures. The election process is announced amid regional tensions and the government's efforts to reinforce the course toward European values and a modern European standard of living. It is evident that this stage will serve as a critical test for Moldovan society and politicians — their choices will determine not only the country's future direction but also its position within the broader context of European integration and security. Election days are approaching, and the country is preparing for a major political marathon, which will affect not only internal stability but also the prospect of joining the European community.
