Crime against a journalist: Makarov gives first police testimony after knife attack

In Kyiv, law enforcement authorities have intensified their investigation into the knife attack on well-known Ukrainian journalist and public broadcasting executive producer Yuriy Makarov. According to official information released by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the victim has already provided initial testimony to the investigative team, and the investigation is ongoing to identify the perpetrator and clarify the motives of the crime. According to Igor Klymenko, head of the department, all necessary procedural steps are currently being taken, including expert examinations that will help identify the attacker and shed light on the circumstances of the attack. Maximum attention is being paid to finding the culprit, as the situation raises serious concern among the public. The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasizes that he personally controls the progress of the investigation and will do everything possible to ensure the crime is solved quickly and effectively. The department also urges citizens to report any information that may be helpful in solving the attack, by calling: 067 406 27 88 or the emergency number "102." What is known as of earlier: the incident occurred on April 17, when an unknown assailant attacked Yuriy Makarov with a knife. At the time of the attack, the journalist was in Kyiv and was taken to a hospital with injuries. The severity of the injuries is currently being clarified, but the fact of the attack has already caused wide resonance in the media and the public. The motives of the attacker remain unknown; however, police emphasize that all possible versions are being considered. The investigation continues, and law enforcement authorities are making every effort to quickly identify the perpetrator and bring him to justice.
