Abandoned dramatic incident in Kherson: Russian UAV first attacked “Speedy,” injuring medical personnel and a driver

On the morning of Easter, April 17, an extraordinary event occurred in the Dniprovskyi district of Kherson, once again highlighting the tense and dangerous situation that has developed in the temporarily occupied Ukrainian city. According to regional military administration reports, at 07:40 a.m., a Russian drone carried out a targeted attack on an ambulance that was performing its official duties. Official reports state that two people were injured in the attack: a 65-year-old paramedic and a 61-year-old ambulance driver. Both suffered serious injuries, including shrapnel wounds to their limbs, head injuries, and pelvis wounds. The victims were immediately transported to local medical facilities, where they are receiving necessary medical care. Preliminary information indicates that their conditions are stable, and there is currently no immediate threat to their lives. This attack raised many questions regarding the safety of medical workers who risk their lives in combat zones, especially during armed conflicts. Witnesses note that despite the circumstances, Ukrainian medical personnel continue their work, maintaining professionalism, dignity, and courage despite outrage and fear. Earlier, on the night of April 16, the situation in the city significantly worsened. Enemy aviation and artillery once again attacked Kherson, resulting in the death of one man and injuries to nine others of varying severity. Among the injured was a 15-year-old teenager who was caught in the shelling along with other residents. Besides human casualties, the occupying forces caused substantial damage to the city’s housing stock: over 20 multi-story buildings, private homes, a sports complex, and two large retail chains were damaged. Rescue services and city officials immediately responded to the scene. However, during the inspection of the shelling site, they came under additional artillery fire, which significantly complicated evacuation efforts and the assessment of damage and destruction. This further confirms that the situation in Kherson remains tense and unstable, and the dangers for civilians and medical personnel increase daily. Local authorities and military personnel urge residents to remain as cautious as possible and prepared for emergency situations. Meanwhile, Ukrainians continue to demonstrate incredible resilience and bravery despite the hardships and ongoing shellings. However, the situation remains strained, and each new incident highlights the need to enhance protection for peaceful residents and medical workers risking their lives to save others. Instructed: The investigation into this tragedy is ongoing, and law enforcement officials are doing everything possible to identify the perpetrators and hold them accountable. Meanwhile, ambulance and emergency response services continue their work on the front lines of fighting for the safety and lives of Kherson residents.
